Phyllis I. Jeppesen

     Phyllis Irene Jeppesen, passed away on at MediLodge of Mt. Pleasant.  Phyllis was born on Thursday, June 20, 1922 in Crystal, Michigan, the daughter of Ernest and Estella Viola (Frost) Clarke.  On March 21, 1945, she married Levi ‘Lee’ J. Jeppesen in Crystal, Michigan. 

    Phyllis was an elementary school teacher, starting her first assignment in a one room school called Culy School, teaching K – eighth grades.  She then taught at Sethton School, Entrican School and then for the Mt. Pleasant School District, for a total of thirty years of teaching.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Mt. Pleasant Area Historical Society, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Order of the Eastern Star from Six Lakes.  She flew with her husband Lee, who was a pilot, for over twenty five years.  She lived in Mt. Pleasant since 1955.

     Phyllis is survived by her two sons, Gregory C. Jeppesen and his wife Lisa Bernhardt of Orchard Lake, Michigan and Richard L. Jeppesen and his special friend Diana Knight of Portage, Michigan; and five grandchildren, Amanda, Nathan, Shane, Jessie and Skylar Jeppesen.  Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, both parents and three sisters, Eva, Doris and Ruth.

      A service celebrating Phyllis’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Diane Gordon officiating.  Friends may call at the Rowley Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 26 from 3-5 and 6-8 pm and on Wednesday from 10 am until time of the service at the church.  An Order of the Eastern Stars service will be held on Tuesday at 4:45 pm at the funeral home.  Grave side committal services will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 pm at the Hillside Cemetery, Entrican, Michigan.  Memorial contributions have been suggested to the First United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
